We left Groix in the afternoon and did an overnighter to Ile de Yeu. A lovely comfortable downwind sail. Stopped in Yeu for a rest, swim and some food then continued over night to La Rochelle, another really pleasant, comfortable sail. La Rochelle is a lovely old port which survived the war so still has loads of old buildings, unlike Brest which was destroyed by the allies.

Stayed for 3 night in the centre of town, again more delicious French food and wine. Oysters galore, they where amazing, less than 50p each. Wine and oysters for breakfast – dee-lish. Me and cook loved them but number 1 gagged every time she saw us eating them.

Bit of a crazy lightning storm of the first night, glad we weren’t out there.
Had to hire bikes to check out of France as the customs office was miles away and there were no buses.
On to Spain now across Biscay.
Enjoy your onward sail.
All the best for a good trip.
