St Agnes in the fog and neolithic log

We finished our neolithic rollar coaster tour with a beer in the Fraggle Rock bar on Bryher.

The following day, before we set off to St Agnes, the most southerly of the Scilly Isles, the first mate had her first driving lesson.

The chef promised us fish for tea – yeh right. Four hours of fishing and nothing. Apparently, we were going too fast, 2 knots?????

We had a lovely sail around the rock strewn coast of the Scillies but around 3pm the fog closed in. We arrived in St Agnes in the fog and anchored within 300 metres of the Turks Head boozer. Didn’t see the pub until the next day as the fog hadn’t cleared and I would not leave the boat until I was certain the anchor was holding as there are a lot of rocks and other boats nearby.

The next morning the fog had not lifted but the Rocna anchor held like a dream. (Thanks Keith for the Rocna recommendation, it is a sleeping pill)

When the fog lifted my neolithic nightmare continued with a trip the Old man of Gugh (Goo) . Apparently the most southerly standing stone in the UK. Fascinating stuff.

Then on to Kittern rock cairn, this got cook really excited as it was so intact. The views were amazing.

Finally a visit to the Turks Head, a neolithic bar with bronze age beer and their own neolithic stones less than 300 metres from the boat. Not bad for parking in the fog.

On to St Mary’s tomorrow for even more neolithic fun. Can’t wait.
